Auto Restart when Printing

I have 30 pcs running XP SP2 and Office 2003 SP1 networked with 2 Win2000
Servers.

On 7th October 5 of the pcs started rebooting auto when printing to a
network printer. If they click File - Print it restarts. If they just click
on the printer icon it will print to their local printer but not a networked
printer. Reboots if you go into Printers in the Control Panel.

Two of the users have the same problem if they try accessing a particular
directory on the network (different directories) the pc restarts instantly.

After the pc has restarted they get a message saying "The system has
recovered from a serious error..."

After searching the Microsoft site I found an article that reports similar
symptoms but I can't find anything when I scan with antispyware or virus
scanners.

I have scanned the pcs numerous times with Computer Associates, Symantec
Corp Edition V10, Ad-Aware. I can't fix the problem.

I know of a few others with exactly the same problem.

Would appreciate any help on this one.

Hi CTB;
The bad news is that MSAS was never designed for a networked environment, and
it's probably not a good idea to try to force it to fit. I'm having trouble
just trying to get it to deal with a multi-user PC. Some of these issues (and
there are more, scattered on these newsgroups) are raised here:

On the other hand, the brighter news is that Ms recently announced an Enterprise
AS version labeled Microsoft Client Protection, which will go into limited beta
before year-end with a full rollout expected in 2006. However it will not be
cost free. Bill Sanderson would probably be able to furnish you more detail,
although here is a reference:

One additional step you could take would be to run the scans in safe mode.

I would also suggest an online scanner such as::

If you still find nothing I think the following sentence from the
knowledgebase article deserves your consideration:
"Not all stop 0x00000050 errors are caused by the problem that is described
in the "Cause" section."

Unless you have followed the instructions in the "More Information" section
of the knowledgebase article and verified the infection, you may find it
more productive to look elsewhere for your problem.

I'd be interested to know the results of your efforts.

Are there any useful details in the crash message--or in the system event
log record of the crashes? Do they name any driver or system file?
