I've recent modified an entry in the registry,
HKLM>system>currentcontrolset>control>print>providers>retr
y>retryPopUp from 1 to 0 (which was supposed to just set
the time out to disable). However, the unit cannot get
back into logon prompt after reboot. I don't know if it
has anything to do with that modification. I've tried to
boot up in safe mode, last known good, but not luck. it
always power cycled right between switch from the loading
to windows 2000 (w/ progress bar) to logon screen.
please help
..

You can install a new copy of Windows to a different drive. Now you have a
dual boot system. One OS works and one doesn't.

Boot into the new one and run regedt32 through here you should be able to
load hive and load the other registry up from the first broken install. Undo
the registry change you made, unload the hive, reboot and select the second
install of Windows from the boot menu.....
