Hello

In Excel you can have a macro that runs automatically when you open the workbook. Can you have a macro that run automatically when a presentation opens?

Thanks in advance
James

James,
The two auto execute VBA procs in PPT are Auto_Open & Auto_Close.
However, quite unlike Word & Excel, these execute automatically only within
an add-in. Auto_open- when you load it and Auto_close - when you unload the
add-in

If you are using PowerPoint 2000 or later you can try my free AutoEvents
Addin
The add-in is designed to execute the certain routines automatically if
present in the presentation. You can download and learn more about it from

Not sure about the "Auto-Open" portion of your post, but you can easily have
a presentation open in show-mode. Either open in PPT and do a Save As,
choosing "PowerPoint Show" (vs. the default "Presentation"). This gives the
presentation the .pps extension, which opens a presentation in show-mode.
The other option is to just change the extension in Windows Explorer to
".pps"

There's no AutoOpen macro that runs when you open a PowerPoint file, so no.

If you rename the file with a .PPS instead of a .PPT extension, it will
automatically open in slide show view. No need for macros at all.
