I'm using Windowsxp home-edition and Microsoft Explorer 6.02 and when trying
to enter 2 of my frequently used secure-sites, I must manually enter the
(Logon ID) and (security code) each time for the 1st site and for the second
site, I must manually enter the (Username) and (Password) each time.
The rest of my frequently used secure-sites can be entered just by clicking
on the (Logon ID) or (Username) blank box and the information pops into both
boxes without having to enter any information manually.
I have tried getting a resolution to this problem from various different
newsgroups for some time now including Explorer and Outlook Express groups
but always came-up-dry with only 1 courageous individual tackling it!
My computer already was set for auto-complete and all else suggested.
I was able to enter both of these sites with the information remembered by
Windows a few months ago.
The (Do you want Windows to remember your password) box never gets displayed
for these 2 sites.
I reset the passwords for all sites and upon entering the 2 problem sites,
the (remember passwords) box didn't come up but that option password box
came up for all the other sites that I was able to click without having to
enter the information manually each time so I'm back to square-one again.
I contacted both financial institutions and they indicated nothing has been
changed at their end!
I could accept this option being taken away if these 2 sites had been
changed but since supposedly nothing was changed and I was previously able
to enter them as the others, I'll hope for a solution from someone.
Thanks.

First of all, this has nothing to do with Windows. The entire event is in
IE.

Second of all, there is a quick easy meta tag that prevents any browser from
remembering a password, but here's a quick way to see.

Install Mozilla or Mozilla Firefox (from http://www.mozilla.org/). Enable
"remember password." Now, the box doesn't pop up to remember the password in
the browser, your financial institution isn't telling you the whole story.

P.S. The Remember Password option in Norton Internet Security bypasses this
on any site.
