Auto-hide task bar broke

I cannot get the auto-hide task bar to work in Win2000
when any application is running. The auto-hide feature of
the task bar works very well only when the desktop view is
showing, but does not work when any other application is
running maximized. Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

Do you have "Always on top" checked in the same area where you enabled
auto-hide? (I forget if it's labeled as "always on top" or "keep on top of
other windows" or something else in Windows 2000.)

I was under the impression that "always on top" and "auto
hide" were mutually exclusive selections. I did not
have "always on top" selected, but I do now. And that has
solved the problem. Thanks very much.

They'd be radio buttons instead of checkboxes then. :]
