Auto-hide on IE taskbar

I have read the previous posts and its not that I don't know how to hide the
IE toolbat but need to do it via registry or some other way. There are
hundreds of DC machines.

That had me guessing. But, just noticed the Auto-hide option is available in
F11 mode.
 
Ah Ha! I always use full screen, (F11), so I didn't even
realize it wasn't available in the other mode.
 
Well, after fooling around for quite awhile on this matter.... Using RegMon
and hiding and unhiding IE's toolbar (which is only available in full-screen
F11 mode) by checking and unchecking the Auto-hide feature, I've determined
that this feature is not controlled by the registry. It must be a
hard-coded feature in a .dll somewhere. Sorry I can't be of more help.

However, you can force IE to open in fullscreen mode by the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

fullscreen=yes
