Auto Hibernate of SATA storage Drives?

I have three SATA II drives installed on a Asus MPN2BP motherboard that I
bought a few weeks ago. I'm running XP Pro with all the latest updates.

Although I have a 500 watt power supply and three fans, I am concered about
the temprature. I notice that my WD drive is running a bit hotter than the
Maxtor or Hitachi drive. I'm using Speedfan to monitor the temprature
readings.

I was wondering if there is anyway to have the motherboard power down two of
the drives when they are not in use. They are only used for storage. The
main drive is a Hitachi 320 GB and is always in use as it downloads from
Usenet.

I dont believe so, unless installed as removable which may be an option if
your mobo chipset drivers support this.
ie are the drives seen in the 'unplug / eject hardware dialogue'?

How hot is a 'bit hotter'?
Are any of your fans positioned in front of the hd cage?

Pcs dont work like that...Either way, youre purchase should have been a
seagate SATA hd,thier faster, & unlike the ones you did, seagate carries a
5 year warranty,the others are 1 yr....
