Is there a way to automatically delete items in users deleted items folder
without user intervention (Using Exchange 2003 and Outlook XP)? I know you
can add the appropriate .adm file to the domain, but the only option I've
seen is "Empty Deleted Items Folder." If you enable that, it still prompts
them when they close out of Outlook.

Thanks,
Enrique

I empty my Deleted Items folder using AutoArchive and keep the last few
days' worth of deletions around, in case I deleted something by mistake.

The prompt you describe will disappear if you also disable the "warn me when
I delete an item permanently" prompt, for which there should also be a
policy.

Dear Enrique,

Thanks for posting here.

Based on my research, you can use the "Recipient Policy" of "Mailbox
manager" to configure the "Deleted Items" limitation. With the "Mailbox
manager" settings, you can limit the size and the age of the Deleted Items.
1. Open "Exchange System Manager"

2. Expand "Recipients", right-click "Recipient policies", click
"new"-->"Recipient Policy"

3. Select "Mailbox Manager Settings" and click "OK".

4. Input the policy name, and click "Mailbox Manager Settings" tab,
configure the "Deleted Items" settings.

For the detailed steps, you may refer the following KB article:
319188 HOW TO: Use Recipient Policies to Control Mailboxes in Exchange 2000

I hope the above information helps.
If you have any concerns, please feel free to let me know.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jorge Fei
