All new messages should be in the Inbox unless you use rules to move them
elsewhere. If so, use the unread mail folder to see them. Simply
selecting
the message in the message list should show it in the Reading pane (or
double click to open it in a new window).

Thanks Diane. I had it working when I first installed it, so that, with
new
messages, they were displayed in the inbox. Wish I could remember what
I
did

:
create a rule to display a message box for all new mail - then double
click
the message to read it.
Security concerns eliminated all possibility of opening mail
automatically,
although spammers would probably love the ability.

How can I set Outlook 2007 so that, when a new message comes in, it
opens
without having to right-click on the inbox and choose 'open'?
