AUTO DISCONNECT

I was under the impression that auto-disc. activated when a session was inactive for a given period. Am I mistaken

I use XP home, dialup, and as far as I know the most current IE. I am not certain when this began, because I am rarely online for over the 20 minutes I selected for auto-disconnect. After recently lowering that number to 10, I now find that when I am on for ten min. I get zapped even though there is traffic. I don't seem to remember having to "baby-sit" a lengthy download for example

Now I know that I can handle this by raising the auto-disc. parm., but is there a tweak I can apply so that it will auto-disc only after 10 min. of INACTIVITY

AFAICT, inactivity means mouse and keyboard inactivity.
