auto disconnect failure

If I run another program while connected to the server (such as ms-word,
for example), then the auto disconnect option screen doesn't appear.when I
disconnect. This happens with both IE & Outlook Express.
Clues?

It's things like this that make me keep AutoDisconnect turned off.
