Auto disconnect clients after specific idle time?

S

Steffen Rieke

Hello newsgroup,

is there any way to disconnect clients from my Windows 2000 Professional
server after a specific idle time?
The problem is: the server is in use as a print server. If some other
employees in our company printed their documents, the other one aren't
able to connect after a while. The only reason by now is to disconnect
idle sessions manually...

Thanks in advance,
Steffen

i have tried that now but it seems to me that it didn't help.
right now i have a user who is connected 38 minutes and his idle time is
37 minutes.

Use a server operating system where the number of connections will not be an
issue.

indeed, that would solve the problem. but try to explain that to my boss ;)
okay, thank you two for your answers. i guess i really go for another OS
(maybe a linux distro, so that licensing costs doesn't matter).
