I have tried to stop WM from automatically adding contacts to the address
book by going to options/send and unclicking "auto add to those I respond
to", but it STILL adds everyone who even SENDS me an email - even everyone
who is copied in the email!!!! Help!

Just a thought, but you don't have more than one email application like
Windows Mail do you? It may be another program (if you're leaving a copy of
the mail on the server for another application) that is adding those contacts
and not WM. From someone who uses WM, WLHotmail, WLM, Outlook and a bunch of
web based email applications. I can never be sure who is doing what since
there are so many mail servers involved.

Thanks for your response. This is a new computer, and everything on it is
new. Unfortunately, I was "force fed" Vista by the evil Gates empire, and
it's been a disaster. This is only one of the problems with Vista I've
encountered. Another one is that it won't allow you to do a search of the
hard drive - it only goes out and searches the internet, which is useless
when you're trying to find something on the hard drive. Of course, Microsoft
won't talk to us, so that's why we have this community, which basically puts
us on the Microsoft payroll without pay.
