Auto connect

Hi,
How do I setup Outlook 2003 to auto connect to the mail server when I open
it? The only way I can get mail now is by hitting Send/Receive after I open
outlook.

You provided no information.
Mail account type, connection type, automatic polling settings would be
relevant.

Mail type is POP3,cable -broadband connection auto polling unknown

Then all you need to do is set an automatic polling interval.
Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Send/Receive...
