In MS Outlook when I type to end of line and hit enter the program auto caps
the next word. I do not want this to happan. In Auto Correct there is no
check box to disable this function. How can I stop this auto capitalization
from occuring. It happens in both MS Word and MS Outlook.

Hello Chuck,

Yes, I am aware that is a solution. It just seems to unusual to view the
text going on until the end of the page. I learned to type on a typewriter
and hitting enter is a way for the text to appear more balanced.

I have another problem as well. The clean up mailbox dialog box keeps
popping up every time I open the program. I want that to stop. Any
suggestions?

Thank you,

Kenneth Epley

The setting you're looking for is Tools | AutoCorrect | Capitalize first
letter of sentences. When you press Enter, you are starting a new paragraph,
and Word assumes that the beginning of a paragraph is the beginning of a
sentence. As Chuck says, you need to let Word wrap the lines for you. You
are losing a great deal of the functionality of a word processor if you
don't. When you allow word wrap, then your text will reflow automatically if
you add or delete some of it; otherwise, you'd have to go through and change
all your line breaks.

Even though that is how you learned to balance your text when you learned on
the typewriter, I HIGHLY recommend not hitting Enter unless you are wanting a
new paragraph. You will want use adjust your margins in Page Setup so your
text is balanced the way you want it to. Otherwise, you are most definitely
going to have problems using Word (even if you get this one issue resolved).

I forgot to mention that if you want it to line up perfectly along the right
hand side, use the "justify" alignment for your paragraph. This will make a
block paragraph. Maybe that is the look you are wanting so it isn't
staggered along the right hand margin?

Good luck.

Ken

I would add to those recommendations that if you want to fully justify
(align the right side as well as the left side) that you go to Tools,
Options, Compatibility tab and check the option to 'Do Full Justification
like WordPerfect 6...'

One very nice feature of WordPerfect is its auto capitalization of new
sentences. That saves a lot of time in a large document. How do I enable
that feature in Microsoft Word?

James Holland

It is enabled by default. Check the settings in Tools | AutoCorrect Options.
