In the AutoArchive section, there is an option: Delete
expired items(email folders only. What does it mean
expired? How long is considered expired? When it
deletes, does it goes to Delete item folder or
permanently deleted?

Thanks,
Alex

Tools -> Options -> Other -> AutoArchive

This is where you set the *default* behavior (and where you enable that
it runs at all). Whether it moves or deletes is your choice as options
here. You also get to specify how old is an item as to when it is
considered expired ("... items older than"). In OL2002, there is a
button to apply these default settings to all of your folders (in the
currently selected PST file).

You can override these default or global settings by right-clicking on a
folder, select Properties, and open the AutoArchive tab panel. You can
even disable auto-archiving for just this folder (so if your applied the
defaults to all folders, they won't be used in this folder).

Auto-archiving is based on the last modified date of an item, NOT on the
datestamp you see in the Date or Received columns. You might have
received an e-mail 2 years ago but just yesterday moved it into another
folder, so the last modified date is yesterday, not 2 years ago. If
auto-archive on that folder, whether using the default/global settings
or the customized ones just for that folder, was set to move/delete
after an item was 2 months old, it would not get archived because its
last modified date was yesterday.

You didn't bother to mention which version of Outlook that you are
using. I'm using Outlook 2002 so the instructions above are based on my
version.
