Auto-allow "known" programs

This has been driving me nuts. Any time I'd start OneNote or put my Pocket
PC into itrs cradle, the Anti-SpyWare would just show its green message box
and tell me that this is a (well)known program and it's just letting it do
whatever it wants. I'd religiously open its manager, go to to System Explorer
and disable the ActiveSync from startup, only to see this happen again next
time I dock my Pocket PC.
This *must* stop! It's just ridiculous that it's happening at all.
Anti-Spyware *must* **always** ask me/user what should it do and not let
anything (well)known by. At least, there should be a setting that would let
me/user choose if I'd prefer for Anti-Spyware think for me. But most
imporantly, once something's disabled from startup, it should remain that way
until me/user chooses otherwise!!!

Microsoft antispyware is not a general purpose control mechanism for
software on your machine--it removes a class of software which is genuinely
bad, defined in this paper:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/isv/analysis.mspx

I understand what you are looking for, and there are times I want it as
well--but Microsoft Antispyware isn't a substitute for you voting about app
behavior by uninstalling the apps.

If you think ActiveSync fits the definitions in the above paper--send in a
suspected spyware report and detail your reasoning. They got Sony, after
all.......

It's general enough to *ask* should it allow most apps to be added to the
startup; why can't it do the same for all?

Not sure what you mean by this.

Whether ActiveSync is a spyware or not is irrelevant. Ahead Nero or Symantec
AV are also well known apps and MSAS still let me choose whether they should
let into startup.

This is a question of having a choice, not to mention that it presents a
potential risk. I hope MS would keep improving this product and I'd see this
fixed soon.

What kind of answer/comment is that???? You don't find behaviour I described
annoying? - Fine! Vote that it doesn't change but don't patronize people!

This may not help you either, but I'm told that active-synch 4.1 is now
available, and is significantly improved over the previous versions. Not
sure whether your objection to the older ones was on technical grounds, or
what.... <g>
