Authoritative Time Server Setup

Hi:
I need to setup a time server. Is it as simple as running
net time /setsntp:<external time server> on a DC? I've read the
KB216734 - How to configure the Windows Time service in Microsoft
Windows Server 2000", but half the registry entries aren't there to
modify. Also, how do the other DC's decide which one is authoritative?
How do you check? Would you run net time /setsntp:<DC time server>on
them and also on the clients?

Thanks

Larry

Yes, the command should be done on the DC holding the PDC FSMO role. Other
DCs get their time from the PDC FSMO role holder. The net time /setsntp
command is not required on member workstation/servers because they will
auto-magically configure themselves to participate in acquiring time thru
domain hierarchy. Therefore the only time you should have to use the net
time /setsntp command is when moving around the PDC FSMO role.

As easy as that - Thanks
