Hello all,
I've got 2 W2k sp4 servers running at one of our
locations. It seems that all clients are authenticating on
the server that is runng DHCP and DNS. How do I force
users to authenticate to the other server? They are both
GC's, but this one server seems to be doing all the work.
Thanks for the help,
Jon

Clients will cache the dc that did their last successful logon so that one
dc was probably the first one, and while don't know if either of the
following are possible in your environment, you can either pause/stop the
netlogon service on the one to force clients to authenticate against the
other and then turn it back on when done, or put the first dc into a
different AD site. Clients will try to authenticate against a dc/s in their
site first based on their ip header info before trying to find any dc they
can. Unless you have a ton of users, or that one dc is lacking resources,
normally validation doesn't take up that much horsepower, and dns and dhcp
don't need too much either.
