On a Windows2000 server, I have one client connected that is using winXP home
edition (workgroup)(until upgrade next month). This home XP user is connected
to a printer that is shared off of the server.
Every time I restart her machine, she loses the printer share connection -
the printer must be reinstalled.
The real solution is a print server and XP pro with domain instead of
workgroup. I know this and am working on the proper solution.
Until the time that I can fix it right, I need to make this printer stay
installed and connected even after restart.
I have tried looking for evidence in event veiwer, I have tried configuring
print spooler services (which indicates its started anyways) to restart, I
have looked at user rights on both her machine and the server/printer.
Nothing seems to give me an answer or provide a solution for this.
thanks in advance for any advice.
