I have seen a few messages about users losing sound (amplification) after
recent Windows
Update. I haven't seen any responses yet. Anyone know what is going on?

Nothing so far. I lost sound (irrepairable) after trusting Windows
Update.

Windows Update told me my sound driver was out of date and I was offered
a fool proof update. Needless to say? NEVER update drivers unless you
really HAVE a problem in the first place.

The PC even refused to start at all unless in fail safe mode, I managed
to uninstall the faulty Windows Update driver, but it is not possible to
reinstall the old working driver any more.

This is Windows MS world!
