I accidently deleted the audio program off my hard drive and I don't know how to get it back. I was in Add/Remov Programs and I thonk it was called soundmax or something. I have the XP disc, but when I go to "Install optional Windows Components" I can't find an audio device. PLEASE HELP! Thank You.

Clever heh ?

Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound
Video & Game Controllers > check for your soundcard here. Is it there ? Is
there a yellow triangle against it ? If so, use the XP troubleshooter to
resolve your problem.

If its there and there's no yellow triangle, all you need to do is install
the software bundle that came with it, or download the latest bundle from
the manufacturer's website (making sure you d/l XP specific software).

Once the software's installed, re-boot and does it work ? Make sure the
volume sliders are all up to max (loudspeaker icon in the systray) and that
nothing is muted except the mic.

If no, Right Click on My Computer and then as above to S,V & G Controllers >
delete any mention to your soundcard > re-boot and let XP re-install it,
adding the XP drivers you either downloaded or found.

If that doesn't work, take out your soundcard. Re-boot. Turn off your
machine, replace the soundcard in a different slot. Boot-up and as above,
let Xp do its thing.

If it STILL doesn't work, bin it and buy another.

Cheers,
Jerry
