This is usually the result of some old audio drivers. You may be able to solve this problem
simply by going to WindowsUpdate (
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) and clicking the Drives
option after scanning, then using whatever drivers are provided.
If that doesn't solve the problem, or there are no new drivers available at WindowsUpdate (or
if you know what soundcard/onboard sound you have), in the error that apologizes for the
inconvenience of MSN Messenger shutting down, click the "click here" link -- in the next
screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msnmsgr.exe szAppVer : 6.1.0207.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll
If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.
