I have a Dell Dimension 8250 and purchased the Dell Movie
Studio Plus at the same time which allows me (supposedly)
to hookup an analog camcorder to the computer. The idea
is that I can then record my home movies (audio and
video) to the computer. I get audio - no video. Drivers
appear to be okay and all equipment is installed. Yet I
get the error "The specific video device is not
responding. Verify that the device is connected properly
and turned on, and then try capturing again." when trying
to capture video. Help please!!

I experienced an almost similar problem with analog VCR capturing
(composite). I got audio but no video. When I plugged in my DVD-player
on the analog port I suddenly also got video. When after that, I
replugged it back to the VCR, I got both video and audio. So now every
time I have powered up my PC, I first have to plug it into my
DVD-player before plugging it into my VCR. Then I can start capturing.
It looks like the DVD-signal is somehow triggering receiving analog
video input. Does anybody know why or how to solve this?
My suggestion to you is to try to hook up a number of devices.

Update: I downloaded the patch DMSPHWPatch-A00.exe from the Dell
support website. And now everything works fine and I don't have to use
the DVD-player to initialize the analog capture port.
