Greetings from Downunder
In PPT 2010 we have (at long last) the ability to trim, fade in and fade out
audio tracks. I have a track that needs the first 7 secs to be removed and I
can overcome this by advancing the green slider to the right. But that 7
secs of audio is still there, just not being played. My question is -- can
that 7 secs be REMOVED from the audio timeline permamently.
All help always appreciated.

Thank you Steve,
I think returning to the old standby "WavePad" is still in order. So
easy...!
Next question is ... still in PPT 2010, where the hell have they hidden the
control over the size of the embedded ".wav" file?

I'm not sure there actually is one anymore. In PPT 2010, all multimedia is
embedded. (Well, all except SWFs and videos from video sites.) When you
insert the file using Insert | Audio | Audio from File, look in the
resulting dialog box at the bottom next to the Insert button. There's a
dropdown there where you can choose Link to File. Use that.
