Need help with Windows XP Pro audio. I installed a
second hard drive as a slave drive for added space. I
moved some files from the C drive to the new D drive.
Audio was fine. Then I did a defrag of the C drive by
double clicking on the My Computer icon and going to
Properties on C drive then clicking on the Tools tab.
Now the audio stutters or clips. I'm not sure what you
would call it, but it acts like the computer is busy and
the sound stutters. I noticed that the mouse also seems
to freeze up at the same time. This happens more when
opening windows, internet explorer, or starting up a
program. I did the defrag hard drive again but I still
don't know why it's doing this. The sound even stutters
at shutdown and start up. I appreciate any help I get on
the matter.

Try going to run,type:cmd
At the curser type:CHKDSK C: /F
Agree to restart, then type:EXIT Reboot computer
