Audio Sound in DVD

I was finally able to burn a DVD but have a few questions. First- Some of the
audio I needed to use had to come from video files, which I dragged into the
audio file section of MM. There were lots of clips and when it played back in
DVD you could hear the transition between clips. It wasn't a continuos audio.
Hope that makes sinces. Also when making the dvd I was given the prompt to
select a folder for the dvd to go into. I created a folder and when I went to
the approved button it said that if I continued somethings would be deleted.
I know this is not word for word but hopefully Papa John knows where I was
when this happened. Thanks again for any feedback.

Can you describe the problem in more detail, what happens, do you get a
blank bit between your audio?
Do you get popping or bleeps?
Does it sound ok when played in movie maker?
If you make a dv.avi file and play it on your pc does it happen there?

I don't know if my last reply posted or not. Yes it plays fine both in MM as
well as WMV. I guess it would be a blank bit. The sound drops out very
quickly before it picks back up and I believe it coincides with the clips in
audio file of MM.I guess it would be a blank bit.

I made a DVD using the wmv file (The other was using avi) and the audio
played fine. However, on some regular audio files I a few pops and I also had
inserted some text, but had to insert it as a jpeg file and it didn't come
out as clear as it did on the wmv file.

Opps, forgot to type a message :)

If you can make a wmv and it plays fine there, then it sounds like it's the
dvd authoring programme that is to blame.
WHich programme do you use?
Did you take the wmv file into this programme?

I am using DVd Flick. On another dvd I made their were no pops in the same
audio files.

Just wondering...did you try saving as DV-AVI
as described in the following dialog:

To save as an .avi movie file...
(and several other options)
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Show More Choices /
Other Settings /
Open the drop window and choose...DV-AVI /
Next /
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

That was where I had the problem. When I burned it using the wmv files the
problems went away. I had read a while back here that sometimes the wmv
didn't play back very well in dvd so I tried the avi format first. SO far the
ones I have reburned as dvd from mwv seem to play back fine. Now my only
issue is some areas where I have text that I had to save as an image doesn't
come out very clear. I am thinking about trying a larger font and see if that
will work. Thanks John.

What program are you using to save text
as an image? Try saving as .png instead
of .jpg. And, yes...a larger font may be
worth a try.

OK...here's a message previously posted
by Wojo that may offer some ideas:

=====

Sometimes rendering to DV-AVI does cause this "click" and sometimes it
doesn't depending, I think, on the audio.
An easier workaround is to render the project as a High Quality NTSC/PAL
Video which "should" eliminate the click
then mute the audio and render again as a DV-AVI.
Last step is to import both the new DV-AVI and the WMV files. Drag the AVI
to the video part of the timeline and
drag the WMV to the audio part and render your final version as a DV-AVI
without the "clicks"

Maybe the following site would offer some
useful items:

Just when I thought I had it licked. When I finally got the pops out I
noticed that I had some film clip issues that I had to edit out. When I
reburned the dvd I got two pops in my audio playback. I created the dvd again
and then got the same pops in the same location, which weren't there before.
I don't know if I will try the text or not. I have to spend about eight hours
reburning all movies and then about two more with the dvd. Might try it on a
smaller file movie though.

Like you said...try a larger font and also
try a different format...png or .bmp maybe.

That's the problem with trying to edit video...
it takes forever before you even know if you
were successful.

Would if I try this. I take the video file drag it audio file, then burn it
as a audio file. Then drag it back into my movie and then create dvd. Also-
Is there a way to make dvd without having to burn a disc so I can just view
that one section. Thanks

Yes, DVD Flick can create an ISO file that
will be saved in the following location.

C:\Documents and Settings\>user name<\
My Documents\DVD

It will still take a long time to render the file.

If you have problems trying to play the .iso
files...try the free VLC media player:

VLC media player
http://www.videolan.org/

In DVD Flick...go to...Project Settings / Burning tab

Check...Create ISO image

Uncheck...Burn project to disc

Uncheck...Delete ISO image after burning

Now proceed as you normally would.

John That info you passed on from wojo seems to work. It got rid of the
really annoying pop, but it did leave me with another pop at the end of the
audio that is easier to deal with. good thing I am not an anul personality.

Well...at least the issue was improved.

Thanks for the update.
