It seems that Movie Maker 2.1 reports the wrong audio sample rate
for a DV-AVI movie captured with it. It always gives 32 khz as the
sample rate. However, when I open the resulting AVI file with any other
video editing program like Adobe Premiere, VirtualDub, etc. they
report 48 khz and play it back correctly.
I suspect that Movie Maker is wrong because when I open the AVI file
produced by it with an audio editor able to interpret AVI files, the sound
is slowed down because the audio editor interprets the audio data at
32 khz as is apparently erroneously written into the header of the file
by Movie Maker. The other video editing programs seem to calculate
the sample rate from the amount of data in the file and thus arrive at
the correct sample frequency of 48 khz.
