I am using XP and want to make audio CD's for my
grandchildren; similar to making a tape on a tape
recorder.

I have a microphone and a rewritable CDRW.

Can someone help me with this task?

Try here http://www.dvdrhelp.com or here http://www.mp3.com

Since you have a CD-RW, you should have bundled software... depending
on the exact software that came with the drive, you may already have
the tools to make what you want, so start your recording software and
look in the HELP file to see what it says about music CD's

If your software does not say it will do a music CD, go here

Are you able to make a wave fine and save it. If you go th start>all
programs>acessories>entertainment>sound recorder: this will bring up a
program with which you will be able to make a recording.After you have
recorded the voice file go to file in the tool bar of the recorder and it
will ask you where you want to save the sound track as a wave file. Save
your wave file there and then you can burn an R CD with your write software
using that wave file

Hope that isn't too comploicated
