I have a Sony Vaio PCG-GRZ530 laptop running Windows XP SP2 2.4 ghz, 512 mb
ram, yamaha sound card. My problem is that when I playback mp3 files on wmp
10 or Real Player, the music will, at varying times, glitch and skip and my
cpu usage in the task manager will reach 100 percent. I suspect a system
conflict, but I can't confirm this. I have gone to the device manager and I
see nothing blatant regarding a conflict. I've updated my sound card driver
and I've even tried to roll back to wmp 9 because I had no problem with that
version. However, I can't even roll back. I use the rolback wizard and
restart my computer, yet it doesn't work...wmp 10 is still there. I know wmp
cannot be uninstalled but I would appreciate any help. I've also run spybot
and pc-cillin....no apparenet spyware or viruses. Thank you in advance.

OK...after dealing with this problem for the last two weeks, I think I have
this figured out. I uninstalled BEARSHARE. I had not experienced any problems
with this P2P program although it does contain spyware/adware. I've been
playing mp3s on wmp 10 for the last hour and have had no system slowdowns
even though I also have 2 web browsers and outlook express open. So if
anybody reads this, my advice would be to be careful what you download and
install on your hard drives.
