Audio Problem with PPT 2000

I have two wav audio files that I need to put into my powerpoint 2000 presentation. Both files will play in media player and mplayer and all other audio packages that I have tried. However when I insert the sound files in to my presentation one will play and the other won't. Both sound files were recorded in a studio with the same equipment and same settings.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
