made my 1st Movie, burnt a dvd and had a terrific boozy bbq with friends
watching the movie. I made copy but my friends can't get sound on their DVD?

I think i burnt 1 from avi format and another in MPG casue i was not sure
which is better ....is there an obvious error on my part (I'm new at this).

Congrats on getting a DVD finalized! Which DVD software did you end up
using?

As to the issue:
Regardless of starting with AVI or MPG the DVD software converted it to
MPEG2 so that shouldn't have been the problem although I am not sure how you
got an MPG file unless you converted the Movie Maker file in which case it
is possible that the problem was in that conversion. I would say to try the
disk you used at your party to see if it works in your friends DVD player
and if it does you know it was probably the MPG file that was the issue. If
it doesn't then it could be a compatibility problem as some DVD players seem
to only work with DVD+R or DVD-R media but not both. I have 5 DVD players in
my house, 4 of them less than 2 years old and one over 4 years old, the
older one only works with DVD+R media while the other 4 work with anything I
throw in there.

I used Movie maker to out the file to MPG format.

I also trialed software dvd santa (www.dvdsanta.com) to convert and burn to
dvd. Thanks 4 the tip re some dvd players work and others not, if nothing
else i'm not going round the bend. btw showsed the kids the movie last
night and we are plannnig to make some togehter so a great family bonding
project coming up (3 daughters). thanks again.. btw i could not view the
videos on your website ?.. they played but no video? btw - the soundog site
is fantastic. u have made my week!

There is no option to output to MPG with WMM.
PJ was there in the older versions? I never used WMM 1.0

I've never tried DVDSanta but I have been told it wasn't very reliable,
maybe better with the newer versions.

I know, my daughter and I work together on stuff, especially at the video
taping stage, it is a great bonding thing. She is always shooting footage
and thinking about how we can use it.

My videos. Anybody else having a problem viewing my videos? I can go to my
website from any of my computers and it works. What browser are you using?

And finally, your welcome, I figured sounddogs was exactly what you needed.
