Hello. I installed WMM2 about a week ago and immediately noticed it crahes
back the desktop whenever I tried to add titles/credits.
I read the PapaDoc info about the DivAXF.ax codec so I renamed it and the
problem was solved...

However today I've started to try to add my own audio in the form of mp3's
to the timeline but cann't. Every few seconds when I try to add or shrink it
crashes with the 'Encountered a problem' error. It always lists this system
file :- ntdll.dll as being involved.

I've read a suggestion in this group to rename ALL the files with the .ax
extension. But on my pc there are about 125 and I really not comfortable
doing this. I've tried lowering the hardware acceleration to level 3 but
it's not made a difference.
Can anyone help please. I know this program is free and easy to use but I
think if you can't get the **** thing to actually WORK its completely
useless.

I wouldn't rename all the .ax files. There are many that the computer needs
to use. Limit the renaming to the known problem ones.

Thanks for the relpy. But I've had a look at the page ::-
http://www.eicsoftware.com/pictures/PapaJohn/Website-MM2/MM2.html
And other people have experienced something very similar:-
""9/17/03 - Choo.comonrad - Movie Maker hangs on me about 2 out of every 5
times that I select a clip in the video bar or after I finish adjusting its
volume. It gives me a dialogue box that says it needs to close with the
following error message: "AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.0.3312.0, ModName:
ntdll.dll, ModVer: 5.1.2600.1217 Offset: 00081bf" > 10/14/03 - Dieter - I
have the exact same error message. Same behavior etc... """

But there aren't any suggestions. Later on its claimed that in the same
section, under this module, that stuttering audio whne recorder back to the
tape can be caused by the C-media driver cmaudio.ax but I haven't got this
on my pc and it doesn't address my problem which is I can't edit audio in
the timeline without the program crashing.

Incidently the error message varies and not exacly the same as the one on
the above website
The Offset varies slightly.
Can this file be updated or something?
Thanks

Hello. I think I've found out what was wrong.
I had this files used for playing ac3 sound:-
ac3audio.ax, and it was corrupted or incompatable. With this removed WMM is
much more stable.
