I have a hunch that the audio problem (which I also got) it's specifically
DirectX 9.0, but I need help to confirm the following detail:-
1. My Windows XP system was working with audio 100%. Then it was trashed by
some bug.
2. I reformatted and reinstalled the system with latest Windows XP SP2
version operating system disk (i.e. did not upgrade SP2, it was included) and
the audio would play sound effects, but no voice on Media Player.
3. I reformatted and reinstalled the system with Windows XP operating
system, tested the sound and it was working. As soon as I upgraded to XP SP2,
the audio went out again. Note that XP SP2 includes DirectX 9.0.
4. I uninstalled XP SP2 but the audio was still out. Note that it states
that DirectX, once installed, cannot be uninstalled so it was probably not
uninstalled with the
SP2(

5. I reformatted and reinstalled the system with Windows XP operating
system, tested the sound and it was working again. I installed DirectX 9.0b
and the Audio went out again.
(note: In case you're wondering it's wasn't as simple as the 5 steps above.
I must have reinstalled about 10 times to come to these conclusions)
But I need someone to verify that it is specifically DirectX9.0 that is the
problem. BTW, I have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS card if it helps.
