audio messed up

Hi
I have a problem with the audio playback for my movies. The movies (avi-format) and audio play okay in the media player, but when I drag them to the storyboard/timeline the movies still play but the audio is all messed up (high loud noice, like it's not in sync with the timing?) Can anyone help me with this?
