I am trying to transfer home movies from my sony handycam to windows movie
maker, I have an HP m480n pc, windows xp media center. I have tried as many
of the audio settings as I can find but nothing seems to work? I am using the
3 way plug in (vid/mono/stereo). Has someone had the same trouble? any help
would be apprieciated.....

Same problem, forever. I was able to use ShowBiz and transfer the files
until I upgraded everything possible and Service Pack 2; now I can't get the
sound on either one. Like you, I've tried every setting.

Are you transferring with a Firewire? I had a lovely Sony miniDV camera
that I lost (sympathy, please) and if I used USB, I only got video. It
took the firewire to bring both from the camera to the computer.

Don't know if this has anything to do with your camera or what you are
doing, but I thought I would give it a try.

I'm having the same problem with my hi-8 vidcam. I get signal when I change
the audio setting to the ATI Rage option, but when I hit finish it tells me
that the device is being used by another program. Ever run across that?

Because MM is designed to work with a digital signal. You need to use other
software, did any other come with your pc?

I have the same problem except I was capturing both Audio & visual but now
only visual.
I have the same problem.
Maybe Microsoft should help us?

Moviemaker is designed to work with firewire, not analogue connections. You
need to use different software for analogue, perhpas have a search of the
media centre newsgroup fpr more help as I'm not sure as to what you get with
it not having one.
