Audio glitches when saved as AVI file

I have created a still picture video that is about 35 minutes long for my
grandpas birthday. I save it as an AVI file and on playback there are
glitches everytime it transitions to a new picture. I tried burning to a DVD
and hoped the glitches were only on the computer but it still happens when I
play it on the TV. Any ideas what could be causing that.

27th Frame of Video Clips Dropped

Summary

Windows Movie Maker drops 27th frame of video clips when saved as DV-AVI (NTSC) movie. One of the symptoms can be an audio/video clicks/skips during transition from video clip A to video clip B.

Trigger

Saving movie as DV-AVI (NTSC).

Reproducibility

This issue can be seen by creating 30 images with the corresponding number in them (1-30). Import the 30 images into Windows Movie Maker 1 and put images on the time line in sequence order with a duration of 1 frame per image. Save the movie as DV-AVI NTSC (25 Mbps) and then import the movie into Windows Movie Maker 2. Place several clips of the movie on the time line and save as DV-AVI (NTSC). When playing back the movie with Windows Media Player, or other suitable viewer, one frame at a time, the 27th frame of each clip is absent.

Recovery

Moving the transition point slightly may reduce the clicks/skips noticeably, or make it worse.

Hello,

I have had the problem once and could not get rid of it. In the end I
started over again with a new project and the problem did not re-appear.
I'm not certain, I think I started the second project with a blank image
and moved the first audio track away from the start of the video...a couple
of seconds

Truthfully, I am not an Instant Expert, But I know someone who is going to
have to try a LOT harder

Both answers are possibilities so just for kicks I thought I would add a
3rd.
I too have had this issue and after I converted my MP3 audio to WMA and
reimported it into my project the problem was gone.

Hello,

Yes, that is exactly how I discovered the problem with MP3 audio except
I converted it to WAV. If you look back a few weeks though, you will find at
least one person who claims never to have had a problem with MP3's and that
he uses them all the time....but prior to that he also posted a message
saying he almost never uses them. Strange World isnt it....having a good
memory is not a pre-requisite for some positions

I know all about THAT one. It is the one time that I can attest to
personally seeing him make such a mistake.
