Audio file length

When I add and MP3 file to the audio track of my edited video even though the
mp3 is 3min20secs long it shows in the timeline as over 7mins long.

The wave form on the time line ends at 3min 20secs so I can cut it back but
it is pretty annoying.

Does anyone know what causes this and if it can be corrected.
 
I dont know, it has always worked for me. Try useing a
different MP3. i used lots on my "Skateboarding Video" so
i dont know where u when wrong. it may be in the saving
of the file.
 
i have always had the problem with many different mp3 files i assumed it was
somethiing to do with my pc but i have just got a new one and it does the
same thing.
