Audio editing question

I'm trying to play two songs back to back fading from one to the other.
Thefirst song has a little bleep or extra note that is heard before the next
song.....my problem is that the bleep that is heard isn't part of the song.
It sounds like a skip when I play the audio.

P.S. Papajohn has a great website for those just starting out with Movie

If you have a Creative Labs card, the additional software came with WaveLab.
You can do basic cutting in that if you have it.
 
If George's suggestion doesn't work or you don't have the Wavelab software
then I am curious if the songs are MP3. I have experienced the bleep you
describe occasionally when working with MP3 and after converting to WAV or
WMA I have never had a problem.
