When that happens to me, it usually is because I forgot to turn on the
speakers this morning. :>{
But that doesn't explain why your headphones also don't work. (They are
plugged in, right? To the correct output jack?)
Have you clicked Control Panel | Sounds | Playback?
I also have Realtek onboard. When I first installed Vista Ultimate x64 a
year ago, there was no sound. But I visited Windows Update almost
immediately, it found and installed drivers, and I've had sound ever since.
;<)
I've seen new drivers on the Realtek site, but I've not downloaded them.
Device Manager says I'm now running Realtek High Definition Audio, Driver
Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp., Driver Date: 10/16/2007; Driver
Version: 6.0.1.5497. How do those numbers compare with yours?
