having a number of laptops and desktops on my home
network, I have begun contemplating how to best utilize
its capabilities. Is there a way to access a run media
player on one computer (wireless laptop) and output audio
on another computer on the network (desktop connected to
home stereo)? I am sure there is clever way to do this,
but I don't know how. Any suggestions? Also, is there
away to access and use a drive (floppy, cdrom, etc)over
the network from another computer? Again, any suggestions
would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi -

You've got a couple of good questions here :)

I'm afraid Media Player needs to be running on the
machine you want the sound to come out of.

On the drive sharing thing, removable media like floppy
disks, compact flash cards, zip drives and CD or DVD
media are not automatically shared on a Windows XP
machine - but by right-clicking the drive in My Computer
or in Windows Explorer you can create a share that you
can access from remote.
