I have a newly installed windows 2000 system with SP4.
I am able to read any kind of cd but not audio cd's.
If I insert an audio cd, nothing happenes. If I check in
windows explorer or my computer, the cd drive reflects
that there is no disc inserted. Media player also does not
see or play the disc or other audio discs. Please can
someone shed some light on this?

The Audio Cd you insert is Protected.!
It cannot play on your CD-Rom Drive.Try paying an Audio
which is copied and is not original.!

If the problém continue then uninstall the SP3.!

This may fix it for you.

Go to Device Manager, r-click the CD-Rom drive and select Properties,
then select the Properties Tab. At the bottom put a check in "Enable
Digital Audio........"
