Audio and Video

I have done a lot of video editing with moviemaker and I have noticed that
the playback (-audio and video on the preview screen - while previewing my
edits) is no longer in synch. It used to be much faster when I first started,
but has gotten slower and slower. Any ideas why this would be?
Thanks,

I am wondering if I have bogged down the Moviemaker program with all my video
and audio collections. I have tons of them in the program now, would this
have slowed it down? I can no longer see my movie to do proper editing, the
audio and video are completely off.

Thanks for getting back to me so soon. We just did all that. We did a virus
scan, defrag and got a 250GB external hard drive (to which we moved almost
all of our other info-so computer hard drive has lots of space now). I just
deleted all my old collections hoping that might help....it helped a bit, but
audio and video are still out of synch (video is slower than audio). Is this
a moviemaker problem?

We have also noticed that we are getting some 'artifacting' (if that is the
correct word for it). The movie will be playing along, and a one second clip
will suddenly appear that is no longer there, and that is not in the
storyline anymore (has been moved or deleted) Any ideas what might be causing
this?

The project working environment of Movie Maker 2 is showing you every-other
frame, not every frame.... sometimes a single frame that you are skipping
over in the project work can be an issue in the saved movie. You need to
find and lop it off. Open the file in MM1 if you need to and go thru it at
the problem point frame by frame to understand what is there, and lop it
off. MM1 shows all of the frames.

Another issue is what I call a 'memory issue'... where it seems to use some
info that was on the timeline at one point of the editing phase, but isn't
there now. That's a little harder do deal with. If trimming/splitting
doesn't do it as the frame(s) might move along, you may have to delete the
clip from the project and bring it in again.

It can be frustrating at times, but I've always found it solvable somehow.
