audio and video out of sync

when i create a movie, the audio and video slowly become more and more out of
sync. if i watch the video clip outside of mm the audio is fine, but when i
watch what i have created in mm the audio always becomes off the farther into
the movie i get. however, if i just pick a spot halfway through the clip, or
anywhere on the clip, and play from there, the audio will be fine for a
while, but then get out of sync again. how do i stop this from happening?

I forgot to add that this also happens in the movies I've saved.
