I am making a movie of 100 still pictures for my mother's 80th birthday. I
have loaded all the pictures and the transitions. But now I am stuck trying
to figure out the following:
1. I am adding music that I have on itunes. I go to where it tells me I can
find the song in Windows Explorer, and try to drag the file to the audio part
of the timeline, but it won't move there. Any suggestions of what I am doing
wrong?
2. How do I make the time between pictures longer than what it is
automatically defaulting to (about 3 or 4 seconds)?

thanks!

More than likely the music file is not compatible
with Movie Maker.have a look at th following articles:

Movie Maker 2 - Importing Audio

(look at the right column under PapaJohn Comments)

File type compatibility with Movie Maker

If you switch to Storyboard view and select
all the clips as a batch...you can add the
"Speed Up, Double" or "Slow Down, Half"
effect to change the duration. Just select
all the clips / right click the Effect and from
the menu...choose...Add To Storyboard.

"Speed Up, Double" cuts the duration in half.

"Slow Down, Half" doubles the duration.

These effects can be added up to six times.

If you need a more accurate adjustment...
the following info might be useful:

The setting change at: Tools / Options /
Advanced tab...only applies to clips added
to the timeline *after* you change the setting.

You can change the duration for each clip
manually. Move your pointer around on the
edge of a clip until you see a double red
arrow. Now drag the double red arrow...
you'll see a tooltip that shows the duration
changing.

Or...just redo the project after you change
the duration at: Tools / Options / Advanced
tab.

Thank you so much John. I haven't looked at the websites yet but my daugher
did get them to drag, and then they said they weren't compatible because they
were MP4 (you were right!). She said she thought she could download them on
her computer in the proper format and then send them to me. We will try that
and if it doesn't work, check out those websites.

She also tried to follow your instructions for increasing the time between
pictures. We already have all the pictures on the storyboard so we tried your
first suggestion. Neither of us could figure out where you right click the
"Effect". can you further elaborate?

thanks.

Tools / Video Effects / scroll down
to 'Slow down half' or 'Speed up double'.

With all the clips selected in the Storyboard
view...right click the Effect and from the menu...
choose...Add to timeline.
