I recently received an automatic ugprade to my Windows XP software, and I
have run into a problem when I surf the Web. When using either Internet
Explorer or any other web brower, I now get an audible beep when I move
between web pages. The beep sound like a coffee pot that is percolating. I
went to Start, Control Panel, Internet Options, and then Sounds And Audio
Devices, but I could not locate the option that will enable me to eliminate
this annoying sound when I move between Web pages. How can I eliminate this
audible beep when I surf the Web?

Do you mean a single, short pop, as if the pop-up blocker had just blocked a
pop-up ad?

To turn this off, goto

Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices
Then goto the Sounds tab

You can change the sound associated to the events listed.

The one you are looking for specifically is
Windows Explorer, Start Navigation and/or Complete Navigation

It is indeed a single or double pop, very similar to the sound of a pop-up
blocker

I tried what you said, but unfortunately I still get a beep that sound like
a pop-up blocker warning. What is the next step?
