for my 2000 word documents tanks in advance john

Hi John,

Since you're in 2000, it's probably a read-only attribute
set in the operating system (I'm hoping Windows 2000).
PowerPoint 2000 doesn't allow password protection of PPT
files, but does allow password protection of Word
documents.

Using Windows Explorer, right click on your presentation
file and select properties. At the bottom of the pop-up
window you should see two boxes (read-only, hidden). Make
sure both boxes are unchecked. That should be the problem
for your PowerPoint, but it also possible the Word
document is password protected through Word, so you may
need to check that.

HTH,

Are you by any chance copying them onto your PC from a CD? I seem to
remember reading something about some of those files being read only by
default with certain systems.
