For one view of the inkjet (and laser) compatible marketplace.

Thanks tony... that's amazing... to be honest I was shocked at a market
share above and beyond 10%. Not to speak of 20%. I've always believed
compatition is good for everyoone, including OEM users.

I am actually amazed that the OEMs still "own" so much of the
marketplace. Considering the aftermarket 3rd party producers and
refillers include hundreds of manufacturers, and the OEM is just one
brand, they still have an amazingly high presence. No wonder they
continue developing new ink cartridge designs.

There are just a few *OEM BRANDS* and about twice that many aftermarket
mfg spewing out 100rds of labels to confuse many in the marketplace. It
is good that the *majority *of users out there are smart enough to buy
what the printer is designed for.

Don't know how the statistical data was collected, or if they took into
account that oem carts are shipped with ever new printer sold. Did they
count those oem carts as "sold"?
Many casual users are "stunned" when they go to buy refill oem carts.
After the initial sticker shock many are turning to the after market for
ink and carts as evidenced by the ever growing after market, market share.
Smart people eventually discover the after market to wisely save their
hard earned dollars.
