My apologies for being predictable.

No probs; the politics surrounding the apps are odd. I have neither
the time nor the inclination to even begin to understand the years of
feuding - claims/counter claims involved...
Neither can I, good luck.

I doubt Vrodok has left usenet just yet. :-)

Hello,

Have you got a copy of akula's build of NFilter you could put into
a.b.f for me, pls?

Sure, I'll post it there right after sending this up.

P.S. In response to that other "jump on the bandwagon" poster, I include
this link; http://sharkproductions.sphosting.com/, with the admonition to
scroll down a bit.

That would be me. Jumping again.
I read Jo's request, didn't know the program, wanted to know, googled,
didn't find the program, but found the article.
Absolutely don't have a need for the program, so couldn't care less if it
was $-ware, freeware, closed or open source.

Still, going from open source to source that's: "available to those I can
trust not to abuse it" smells a bit strange, but I'm just pointing my nose
in a different direction.

Excellent. Many thx. Got it.

*checks headers*

Yep, better; happy now.

BTW... I like NFilter for the ability to filter on the XREF, and this
build cos it strips the headers. Have you ever managed to filter on
any other non standard header? If so, on what server and can you
provide their overview? I have spent years, on and off, with NFilter,
settling on it as a really useful tool a year or so ago when a
particularly nasty sporgery flood hit abc.

I don't suppose you know why NFilter claims to be able to filter on
'organisation', 'path', 'FU', 'NNTP-Posting-Host' etc etc etc, when it
so clearly can't IME?

But anyway... the supplementary questions are but an add on. My thx
are to you for a prompt response to my main req. :-)

When you "grow up" maybe you won't be so quick with an asinine answer.
Quoting you... "couldn't care less", if you don't care why do you post?
Quit smelling your "different directions".

The source of an earlier release [of] SharkPost had been given out, only to
see it compiled, by those who wish the newsgroups ill, into what could only
be called an "*Abortion*" of a news "posting" app. I saw this "program";
pre-Win95 16-bit apps looked absolutely *Fantastic*, by comparison.

Taking my above-paragraph into consideration, "available to those I can
trust not to abuse it" does not (now) seem strange at all.

In a manner of speaking, but I do not wish to 'publicly' reveal a "trade
secret", seeing as how "the walls have K00ks". Perhaps there is a more out
of the way area where I may mention it.

Hi,

Me confused. :(

No probs; the politics surrounding the apps are odd. I have neither
the time nor the inclination to even begin to understand the years of
feuding - claims/counter claims involved.

How many counter-claims have you seen me post? This reply is as
much as you'll see out of me. Please stop implying that my actions
are just as insane as those of my detractors. I'm not harassing
people or abusing usenet and resent the implication you make above.

I've fully complied with Mark Burkley's and Chris Morse's terms
for using their source code. Both gentlemen have been fully
credited and I make no attempt to pass off their work as my own.
The claims about me taking open source code and somehow doing
evil things with it are fantasies. Neither source code package
mentioned the GPL or Open Source at the time I downloaded it.
The one time I did release the full source code, the app was
turned into a flooding tool - that's why I don't make it freely
available.

That's all I'm going to say as this is probably my one and only
post to this newsgroup. If you want to insult me, have the gumption
to do so to my attention in alt.anonymous.messages, I really appreciate
all the hate my giving away hundreds of hours of coding and testing
has brought me and there probably won't be any more thanks to folks
like you and the others here.

Oh. Not a lot of point my addressing the points you raise here then,
is there?
If you want to insult me, have the gumption

I post a req here for one of your apps, defend you when the inevitable
sharkpostisterrible URL is posted, get told I am insulting and told to
insult you somewhere else 'if I have the gumption'
FFS. Please be assured that I have the 'gumption' to, er, insult
anyone, anywhere.
I feel no need whatsoever to follow a thread all over usenet at
another's request, however.
Post here, read here etc

Hit and run girlie.

No complaints. However, "nntp-posting-host:" and "path:" don't
seem to work for me.

is it really necessary PGPing/signing postings? If yes (arguments
please) I (and others) could/should do also.

No complaints. However, "nntp-posting-host:" and "path:" don't
seem to work for me.

Nfilter (or at least the original version) uses XHDR to fetch
headers that don't appear in the overview (such as
"nntp-posting-host:"), some news servers don't support this command.

I haven't checked if it still supports XHDR, but last time I needed
Nfilter I was able to filter on nntp-posting-host using the free
News.Individual.net server.

No complaints. However, "nntp-posting-host:" and "path:" don't
seem to work for me.

My experience is that the only additional filtering NFilter offers is
on the XRef.

Have you tested to see if you can filter on 'organisation',
'followup-to', and 'x-newsreader'?

I'd be surprised if you can, but would be interested to see you test
and report back
