The problem is that this newsgroup is populated by lots of people who
p*ss around with their PCs TOO much without really knowing what they are
doing and then post their idiotic questions pleading for help.

Then stay away from "basics" groups. It is reasonable to expect simple
questions in this or a newusers group.

No one is born an expert, most people learn through their mistakes. At
least these guys are brave enough to experiment and sensible enough to ask
for help when things go wrong...that's life. One day you may be in a life
threatening situation brought on by a mistake you made out of ignorance, how
would you like it if someone you asked for help told you it was your fault
for being ignorant and refused to give you help? Think carefully about this
as you may evoke it through your answer.

There is no doubt that messing in ignorance leads to tears, but what is
wrong with those people then asking for help?

People keep forgetting that there is no such thing as a "dumb question"
except in wartime which the one you should have asked but didn't and that
is
one that may get you killed.
